Activation and Deactivation procedure for DND (Do Not Disturb)

Activate DND or Stop all Calls/SMS

To block all telemarketing & promotional calls & SMS  

  • Send the SMS: START 0 to 1909
    • or  
  • Call 1909 (from your phone) and follow the Instruction to Activate DND.

Deactivate DND / Allow All Calls

If you are really interested to receive marketing calls/SMS, just follow this. Send an SMS with the message STOP 0 to 1909 OR Call 1909 and follow IVRS instructions

How telemarketing calls are categorised?

Below is a list of category numbers.

  1. Banking/Insurance/Financial products/credit cards
  2. Real Estate
  3. Education
  4. Health
  5. Consumer goods and automobiles
  6. Communication/Broadcasting/Entertainment/IT
  7. Tourism and Leisure
These category numbers are never changed relating to listed order.

Want to allow some categories of Calls/SMS and wants to block some category?

  • If you Blocked fully(all categories), you can allow partially(some selected categories).
  • On other way, If you allowed all categories, you can block some selected categories.
Out of this 2 ways, you can choose any one method.

Examples for activation and Deactivatin of DND:

Q.1: To receive only a particular category of call, say: 3 ( Education)

A.1:

You are planned to receive category: 3. First stop all categories, by sending SMS START 0 to 1909 (fully blocked category). Note: Here Start “0” means Stop all. Then, allow category:3, by sending SMS START 3 to 1909

Q.2: To receive only 1,4 category

A.2:

You are planned to receive category: 1,4 First stop all categories, by sending SMS START 0 to 1909 (stoppage of all commercial Calls/SMS). Note: Here Start “0” means Stop all. Then, allow category:3, by sending SMS START 1,4 to 1909 Like wise you can choose multiple categories.

Q.3: To block only a particular category of call, say: 3 ( Education)

A.3:

You are planned to block only category: 3. First allow all categories, by sending SMS STOP 0 to 1909 (all allowed category). Note: Here Stop “0” means Start all. Then, block category:3, by sending SMS STOP 3 to 1909

Q.4: To block some category of call, say: 2,5,6

A.4:

You are planned to block fewer categories: 2,5,6. First allow all categories, by sending SMS STOP 0 to 1909 (all allowed category). Note: Here Stop “0” means Start all. Then, block categories: 2,5,6 by sending SMS STOP 2,5,6 to 1909

How check status of my Mobile Number?

After all, with above procedure if you completed DND Activation/Deactivation. And If you want to check, is your mobile number successfully registered as per your request, check the status of your mobile number here.

I have set my preference as above, but why still not it gets effected ?

Once you set your preference as above, it will take maximum 7 days to take effect. Because telemarketers has to get your updated preference from centralised database.
